ShelfLife Project is a distribution service that supplies no cost, secondhand books and other resources to correctional facilities in Maine. It is rooted in the belief that well-resourced libraries provide much needed access to knowledge, insight, and escape for incarcerated readers while fostering engagement with storytelling, exploration of identity, and the cultivation of empathy. A book placed into circulation can impact dozens of incarcerated readers.
