ARTIVISM

Artivisim in maine employs the arts and culture as powerful tools to effect social, economic and environmental justice throughout Waldo County and Maine.

Welcome!

AiMe (Artivism in Maine) is dedicated to fusing the power and beauty of the arts to the passion and integrity of social justice and freedom.

Holding our mission in our hearts we offer you our THIRD arts in action summit.  Freedom and Justice: What's Art Got To Do With It? (November 6, 7, 8, 9 at the Grand Theater, the Conscious Cafe, The Ellsworth Library and the Heart of Ellsworth Gallery in downtown Ellsworth)

During our first two summits (2019, 2022) artists, legislators, musicians, police officers, attorneys, dancers, correctional guards, painters, business owners, performers, musicians, woodworkers and various engaged humans joined together in audiences, in conversations, in art installations, in performances to address the opioid crisis and then the dual crises of opioid addiction and the pandemic.

Times have turned and while opioid addiction continues to brutally, take and to waste, countless thousands of precious lives, NOW we are facing something more, something different - something  even harder …..a fissure, a split in our country that dangerously exacerbates and amplifies every other issue and challenge we have.

In the face of our heartbroken tearing apart we offer our theme this year of 2025 -  What does FREEDOM mean to YOU, as an artist, as a human? What does JUSTICE mean to YOU as an artist, a dancer, a musician, a painter, a poet, a photographer, a filmmaker, as a human being?

We gather to experience a blast of talent, skills, passion, and love from ‘Our Youth, Our Future’ to â€˜Our Past, Our Present’.

Join Us, COME TOGETHER  to inquire and to experience their, your, OUR meaning.
